Following Gail and Barry's lead, we headed to the towpath below Sycamore Landing Rd. Maples leafed out, but not sycamores. Bluebells, Star of Bethlehem, May Apples in flower. Much song, including HOUSE WRENS, WOOD THRUSHES, PARULAS, and YELLOWRUMPS--and CERULEAN WARBLERS: there must have been at least 4, from the milepost down, singing incessantly, but despite diligent search we never saw them. Heard BLACK-THROATED GREEN, and watched a PROTHONOTARY bump a BLUE-WINGED WARBLER! off its perch. Great looks at NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH; also heard it call several times. Good looks at BLUE-HEADED VIREO, INDIGO BUNTING. On Sycamore Landing Rd, saw AMERICAN REDSTART, WHITE-EYED VIREO. At River Rd, hear FIELD SPARROW, GRASSHOPPER SPARROW and PRAIRIE WARBLER. At Blockhouse Point: OVENBIRD, WORM-EATING WARBLER, low-flying RED-TAIL. Hoorah for Spring!
