Actually I saw it within ten seconds of arrival at the upper level bridge. The adult, full breeding (alternate) plumage birds are working between the Seneca breaks just above Violette's Lock upstream about a mile to just downstream from the first big island. They are flying with small numbers of Bonaparte's Gulls hawking insects over the water. Conditions look favorable for them to be there for the day.
