We had stunning looks at SCARLET TANAGER and HOODED WARBLER, the latter singing his heart out, county firsts for the season for all. OVEN BIRDS were everywhere!! PINE WARBLER and CHIPPING SPARROW provided plenty of audio challenge. Lovely looks at BLACK-WHITE WARBLER as well. We stopped at a spot where I`ve had good luck before and it proved successful again. As we left the vehicle and walked into the forest a rather large bird walked, ran and took off in ungainly flight- WILD TURKEY!!!! We were rather undignified, all yelling TURKEY, TURKEY, TURKEY!!! A moment later a BLACK-THROATED GREEN WARBLER flitted in to provide all with great looks. Parke came up with a new theory that BTGW probably migrates with Wild Turkey!! : ) It turned out to be a nice hike. As we left, PHOEBE was still calling from the same spot as three hours prior, and RED-SHOULDERED HAWK was spotted lifting off from a tree across the road.
