Was surprised, though, to see a Laughing Gull flying downriver at Seneca. (Not a Franklin's, unfortunately.) =20 Also, found a tired out Chukar along Sycamore Landing Rd. Some folks were running dogs as we drove in, which might explain why the Chukar looked so beat... I assume these are not well established at McKee-Beshers - I've never seen one there before. Does anyone know about Chukars there? Other birds: did the cold quiet things down? Very few=20 warblers, aside from the hordes of Yellow-rumps and the Prothonotaries. At Seneca, Hooded, Wilson's, Yellow, Prairie, Parula, and Warbling, Yellow-throated, and Red-eyed=20 Vireos; very quiet at Sycamore Landing aside from a nice Cerulean and Yellow-crowned Night Herons in the swampy woods along the drive in (and the Chukar). Tom Stock Silver Spring >>> Mary Ann Todd 04/27/01 05:16PM >>> At 4:15 the 2 Little Gulls and 20 Bonaparte's were still at Seneca, about = 1 mile upriver from the parking lot, feeding in the vicinity of the first island (Sharp-shin Island on some maps.) They could be seen by walking = about 1/2 mile upriver to where a stream cuts under the towpath, and going down = to the river's edge.
