MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Well, last night I reviewed "Sibely" and have decided that I did see two Anhingas over Rouge's Harbor. Nothing else comes close to fitting. "Sibely" has a great view of an Anhinga soaring and that confirmed it for me (a very skeptical, conservative, devil's advocate type birder). Should I report this to anyone "official"? The "Yellowbook" does not show any previous sightings in Cecil. Gail Mackiernan, thanks for the help !!!!! Start throwing rocks. - Parke. Hmmm -- Your birds sound more like -- Anhingas! These soar, have long neck, a long bill and most importantly, a *long* tail -- often fanned while soaring Cormorants have relatively short tails, in contrast. Female Anhingas have a pale neck and upper chest. There have been a number of records of Anhingas in Maryland, and often these birds have been seen soaring at some altitude, usually near the Bay shore. You might want to look at some pictures of soaring Anhingas and see if these might be what you saw.
