I have Thayer and use it for all my bird listing, and believe me, I am a
lister.  You can break it down to almost any type of list you want.  Life
list, area (ABA, AOU, etc.), Country, state, county, park, or even yard.

Jim,
I have Thayer's and as far as I can tell it's not really intended for
listing
per se. It has a place on each species to check it if you've seen it, but as
far as I know there is no way to download a life list from it, say nothing
of a
regional list. More for educational purposes than anything else. The quizzes
in
it are great for testing yourself.
