I would like to limit my scope / tripod budget to ~$1400 or so(sorry Questar). I am aiming toward the higher-end, waterproof scopes. Thanks to the graciousness of the birding community, I have had the opportunity to use many of the best scopes on the market, including Leica, Swarovski, Kowa, etc. Yet, I have not seen anyone use either the Pentax 80-ED,the Televue Ranger nor the Vernon Master Birder. I realize that opinions vary, so I would appreciate any insight into scopes that you may have. (I am currently leaning towards the Pentax based on its reported (BVD) optical quality, value and its being waterproof). Both objective and subjective comments would be welcome. Thanks in advance. Good birding. Van Vogel Cecli Bird Club vogels86@yahoo.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
