However, through the morning haze at Bumblebee Pond, behind the lake, I had a pair of Solitary Sandpipers, and a long-billed shorebird that made me think "Oh boy, a dowitcher!." Then it started springing up and down, and I realized I was looking at a woodcock acting like most normal shorebirds by feeding in the mud at water's edge. Didn't see the Horned Grebe this a.m., but didn't look for it, either. Baltimore Orioles were singing heartily.
