MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Despite a 9 AM start I had a couple of good hours in Howard County this morning before the day got too hot. Just east of the road's end at Henryton (Patapsco River) was a singing Cerulean, which I was finally able to see fairly low, plus another across the river in Baltimore County. In the same area was a conspicuously singing Kentucky, foraging in the 15-20 foot range, as if he didn't know he was supposed to be a skulker. BTB's were out in force, as were Wood Thrushes, RE Vireos and Scarlet Tanagers. Also seen or heard were Worm-eating, Parula, waterthrush sp., YB Cuckoo, and Wood Pewee. No Yellow-rumps! But also no BTG's, Magnolias, or other northerly migrants. Henryton is a nice maturing forest with some truly large tulip poplars. Nothing like old growth, but still impressive. After leaving Henryton I stopped briefly at nearby Alpha Ridge Park, where I found at least 2 Warbling Vireos and got a good look at one. WE Vireos were numerous, as were Common Yellowthroats. Kingbirds and a Green Heron were my firsts for the year.
