I have had pretty good diversity this year, but it just started the last couple of weeks. I have had a lot of Yellow-rumped, Black-throated Green, and fair numbers of Black-throated Blue Warblers. I've also had tons of Blue-gray Gnatcatchers. Other than that I have not had large numbers, just decent diversity. In addition to the above, this last week or two I have seen Northern Parula, Palm, Chestnut-sided, Yellow, Worm-eating, Ovenbird, Prairie, Nashville, Bay-breasted, and one Cape May (a lifer for me.) What I haven't seen, and usually get good numbers, are Black and White and Redstarts. I usually see the B&W early, so I could have already missed them. Other migrants that are showing up in fair numbers are Wood Thrush, Red-eyed Vireo, Scarlet Tanagers, Baltimore Orioles, Ruby-crowned Kinglets (earlier in April), Chimney Swifts (;ots), Gray Catbird, Eastern Phoebe (I have one nesting with 5 eggs over my doorway), Eastern Wood-Pewee, Great-crested Flycatcher, Chipping Sparrow, White-throated Sparrow, Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Indigo Bunting, and Rose-breasted Grosbeaks (6 at my feeder this morning!). I have to say that I have seen higher numbers up here before, but my records show that the best time is next week (approximately). I will be watching this weekend, but unfortunately I will be in NC this next week, so I won't be able to check things out again until the following weekend. Marcia E.
