I took Friday morning to visit the area surrounding Lily Pons Aquatic Garden. In addition to the normal stuff, I found much to entertain. Oland Road Savannah Sparrow Grasshopper Sparrow Eastern Meadowlark Bobolink Lily Pons Garden Great Egret Little Blue Heron (immature transitioning to adult - showing a plume!) Green Heron Greater & Lesser Yellowlegs Solitary Sandpiper Blue-winged Teal Wood Duck family Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs Solitary Sandpiper Yellow-billed and black-billed cuckoos Orchard and Baltimore Orioles Barn, Tree, Northern Rough-winged, Bank Swallows and Purple Martin Warblers: Yellow, Common yellowthroat, Northern Parula, Prairie, YB Chat, Black & White Indigo Bunting Barred Owl (calling at 10:20 a.m.!) Monacasy River Aqueduct (C & O Canal) Blackburnian Warbler Cliff Swallow (making six swallow species in one morning!)
