The local breeders seem to be in evidence, but migrants heading farther north seem to be sparse. Most prominent migrant warbler is still YELLOW-RUMPED, though we (me, Bill Dobbins & Joe Halpin) saw 2 WESTERN PALMS and heard 1 BLACKPOLL. Other birds of note (some new for the comp list - marked *) include: * BOBOLINK - Bill pointed the numerous Bobolinks out to me & Joe along the boardwalk. There were quite a few birds about (only males seen here), singing incessantly from the tops of the trees. PROTHONOTARY WARBLERS - several singing from various spots at KAG. Most noticeable one was in the near left corner of the ponds (when you first enter the pond area). YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT - heard only, near the beginning of the boardwalk. No sign of the Am. Bittern seen last week. At Kenilworth Park, I saw: * CLIFF SWALLOW - 1 bird flying with many BARNS & ROUGH-WINGED. AMERICAN PIPIT - 1 bird in the soccer fields. Later in the day I stopped by the Arboretum, and heard an * EASTERN WOOD-PEWEE and a PINE WARBLER, and saw lots and lots of people (the azaleas were just past peak). Also, Kathy Massena & her husband saw a * SUMMER TANAGER at the Arb on Saturday (hope I spelled Kathy's name right). Finally, I saw a * GREEN HERON on KAG on 4/27. Good birding, Paul ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
