MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Hi Folks, An afternoon walk with John Maloney in Howard County's Schooley Mill Park produced some good results. In the southwest part of the big "field" that constitutes much of the park was a BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO that landed in a tree, and stayed long enough for us to confirm the all-black bill. Then while I was telling John that I've never heard black-bills vocalize except when on territory, this bird proceeded to sing a few bars of its morse-code-like vocalization. How satisfying! Near the cuckoo were also two singing YELLOW-BREASTED CHATs, one of which we got a good look at, and near the beaver pond a BLUE-HEADED VIREO singing. ORCHARD ORIOLE, PRAIRIE WARBLER, and SCARLET TANAGER were regulars that were seen or heard. This morning, along the Middle Patuxent River down from Eden Brook Rd. were singing YELLOW-THROATED VIREO and ACADIAN FLYCATCHER.
