Hi,


   Yesterday, I joined Peter Martin and 5 other
observers from Irvine Nature Center on a birdwalk to
Lake Roland and got 59 species. Highlight was 11
species of warblers. Although, the group left about a
quarter mile before the loop at north end near the
marsh. We had 9 species of warblers. I went on to
complete the loop and try out the lower trail along
side of the creek, just below the loop trail, I had
Kentucky Warbler and Louisiana Waterthrush. At the
concrete box where we get good view of the marsh, an
3rd year Bald Eagle was flushed and mobbed by
blackbirds and several Solitary Sandpiper seen there.
Before the loop, I checked the mudflats from the steps
off the trail and got 2 Killdeer, 20+ Solitary
Sandpiper, 2 Spotted Sandpiper, and a Least Sandpiper.
Very good day after a small delay of our trip early
that morning by light rain that ended at 8am.
