I asked a local birder where was a good place for birds and he suggested the Vicksburg National Battlefield. Anyway, in the evening I drove around the place, stopping to look and listen, and had about three Swainson's in the loop. Only one was singing from a tree, however, about 20 feet up. (There were also lots of Hoodeds and Summer Tanagers, a nice place.). The Swainson's were of course not the Appalachian habitat ones but bottomland birds, and were in deep ravines with undergrowth (cane etc.), although as I said, one male was singing from a tree along the ravine edge. The bird at Great Falls a few years ago also sometimes sang right by the parking lot from a low tree.
