Not a terrific, drop-dead day by Rock Creek's usual standards but certainly not shabby either. Quite a good selection of singing warblers, including a big push of Redstarts and Magnolias, and other nice birds. Still low for thrushes, however... Warblers: Yellow-rumped (ca. 40, most non-singing, hopefully moving out!), Redstart (15), Magnolia (15), Ovenbird (5), Parula (1), Blackpoll (4-5), Bay-breasted (1), Blackburnian (2), Black-throated Blue (6), Black-throated Green (3), Black-and-White (4), Canada (2), Yellow (2), Worm-eating (1), Tennessee (1), Yellowthroat (5). Interestingly, no Chestnut-sided. Thrushes: Wood (6), Veery (heard only, 1-2). Rose-breasted Grosbeak (3), Scarlet Tanager (8), Great Crested Flycatcher (6), Wood Pewee (3), Acadian Flycatcher (3), Red-eyed Vireo (25). No sign/sound of Yellow-throated and no activity at nest, unfortunately. Up to last Wednesday female was sitting on it, and the male was singing Saturday. Updates would be appreciated. Also had one Black-crowned Night-heron fly-over and still a good number of Waxwings, but diminishing (ca. 100). Also more Indigo Buntings seen, some undoubtedly migrants, and one male Ruby-throated Hummingbird.
