He told us that (walking back past the site) he hadn't seen the bird again, but we opted to go look for it, and luckily it was back at the same tree! We saw it first at about 2:30 pm and watched it for about a half-hour. It has taken us this long to get back home due to terrible backup on Inner Loop. If anyone wants to try this evening or tomorrow, here are the directions: Turn as if going to Fletcher's but park at the upper parking lot, cross over the foot bridge and get onto the Capital Crescent Bike Trail (not the towpath). Walk upstream to the 8 mile signpost (you will have walked maybe 250 yards). Start looking on right for a sycamore that is half- dead and covered with vines (probably another 100 yards past the mile marker). There is a Pawlonia Tree (large purple flowers) just in front of the trunk, between the path and the sycamore. The flycatcher was perched at the topmost branch, sallying out and returning. If you reach the railroad bridge you have gone too far. There is also a Red-shouldered Hawk nest in a sycamore about 1/2 along on right, we saw adult and downy chick. All in all, a great day!
