For long-term weather data check the National Climatic Data Center Online:
www.ncdc.noaa.gov

This site had lists of hundreds of weather stations across the country with
historical weather data sometimes going back as much as 100 years depending
on site. Just locate the nearest weather station and download the data. Some
stations are not as current as others and all don't have the same info, but
as far as I know they all at the very least record temp, precip, wind speed
and direction as well as a myriad other measures you could ever hope to want.
It was free to download the data in December 2000, but I'm not sure at the
moment.
