Has any one had a similar experience? b. Is the Swainson's Warbler really as "secretive" as guides indicate? The only "highland" Swainson's Warbler I have seen was in central PA. He was not very secretive and sang in plain view. He had been posted for a week or two on PABirds a couple of years ago and I was able to stop and see him on a non-birding trip. I have heard but rarely seen "bottom land" Swainson's. I was in the Pearl River WMA (between LA & MS) over Easter and heard at least 5, but only got a glimpse of 1. My first Swainson's was in a palmetto thicket in coastal GA no bigger than an average living room. I literally spent 1/2 an hour circling it looking for the singing bird, but never saw it. Anybody else notice a difference between the two populations?
