Bird highlights follow: At Kingman Lake, north of Benning Rd.: numerous GREAT BLUE HERON 1 GREAT EGRET 2 GREEN HERON 2 BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON 2 SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER 6 SEMIPALMATED PLOVER (species #197 for me in DC) 2 SOLITARY SANDPIPER 4 SPOTTED SANDPIPER 3 KILLDEER 1 NASHVILLE WARBLER 2 YELLOW WARBLER 1 MAGNOLIA WARBLER 2 AMERICAN REDSTART 1 CANADA WARBLER 2 WARBLING VIREO 2 INDIGO BUNTING At Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens and Kenilworth Marsh: 1 TRICOLORED HERON (species #198 for me in DC!) 1 TENNESSEE WARBLER 1 CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER 1 MAGNOLIA WARBLER 1 CANADA WARBLER 1 PROTHONOTARY WARBLER 1 COMMON YELLOWTHROAT There may well have been more warblers at KAG, but I called it a day and came home for lunch while Mary continued with her survey, along the River Trail at KAG.
