John -- The record arrival date for Sooty Shearwater is 04/23/1983 (7, off OC, R. Naveen et al., MB 39:71). There are eight April records for Worcester County. Nine records for the period May 1-10, 11 for May 11-20, 21 for May 21-31, 11 for June 1-10, 12 for June 11-20, and 2 for June 21-30 (latest June 26). Then two August records and one December record. Similar in timing to your report, on 05/16/1965, a record (from land) 70 were seen "streaming by the OC breakwater in the early morning" (MB 21:85, AFN 19:458, AN 20:146). I someone wanted to see one from land, I would recommend the period from May 15 to June 5.
