Alas, alack!! We did however come up with an ALDER FLYCATCHER, calling and seen by all participants through the telescope, near Blair Valley Rd. just south of the Mason-Dixon Line. (We also had nice scope views of EASTERN KINGBIRD, GREAT CRESTED FLYCATCHER and EASTERN WOOD-PEWEE.) Warblers seen and/or heard were: YELLOW (many), COMMON YELLOWTHROAT, BLUE-WINGED, BLACK-AND-WHITE, AMERICAN REDSTART, CHESTNUT-SIDED, BLACKPOLL, MAGNOLIA and LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH. Among many BARN SWALLOWS building nests under a barn by Blair Lake was at least one CLIFF SWALLOW. Both ORIOLE species were seen frequently during this morning. INDIGO BUNTINGS were all over and FIELD and CHIPPING SPARROWS occasional. Inexplicably, we neither heard nor saw PRAIRIE WARBLER. 4 YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOOS were seen and heard -- interesting, because BLACK-BILLED is normally the more abundant Cuckoo in this area.
