You may recall I noted a dozens flying along Hains Point and Kenilworth, and through our yard in Silver Spring until midafternoon when the bad weather came in. We were seeing 5-6 every minute flying northeast, just through our suburban back yard. Seevral other folks noted them from widely separated locations yesterday. Well, the flight is continuing today - somewhat fewer at the moment but still 1-3 a minute across our back garden. I wonder how many might be seen at concentration points? I don't recall ever seeing this before with this species. Painted Ladies and Monarchs, yes.
