Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed I was driving west on Rt 26 towards Carroll Co. and also encountered many Red Admirals (Vanessa atalanta) flying across the highway this morning...they were moving northeasterly. I stopped at a service station before crossing the lake, and two were perched on the ground nearby....their condition= fresh. On the LEPS-L listserv there have been reports these last few weeks from the midwest and areas out west indicating a very heavy migration year for Red Admirals (and unusually heavy for painted ladies on W. Coast). It seems the large rainfall in the southwest and in northern Mexico really brought out the wildflowers this year. Glad to see the admirals finally make it to dear old MD.
