I joined Scott Crabtree, Debbie Terry, Paul and Elise = Kreiss for a routine bird survey this morning. The only migrant = passerines were Blackpolls and perhaps some of the Redstarts we saw. It = continued routine until we spotted the high-flying Mississippi Kite as = we broke out of the forest into an open area. When a Cooper's Hawk made = a pass at the kite it went into a stoop, dropping rapidly in altitude = and giving us a much better view before disappearing behind trees. It = appeared to be an adult or closer to adult than immature in plumage.
