There may now even be 2 singing males. True, as the Mississippi Kite report brought out, this area is unfortunately no longer open to the public even on an informal basis. But my point is to encourage others to be alert for other breeding sites in the area. Last year one of our associates was astonished to discover a singing male near the GLOBECOM antenna site in Brandywine. Both of these sites are in wet woods with at least some standing water nearby. The song has the same quality and high pitch as the winter-time call note, but a pattern something like (to me) of a Black-throated Green Warbler. Also today, in the yard, Downy Woodpeckers and W-b Nut's feeding fledged young. In both cases, both parents were seen sharing the work. A Red-eyed V persists as if more than a passing migrant, tho' this is just an ordinary suburban yard.
