MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Hi again - Toni and I made our first visit to Kinder Farm Park this morning (7:45-10:00), triggered by the reports on the c-c sparrow. We heard and saw the bird well, at just the place advertised (around bluebird box #9). Most of the time the sparrow was circling his territory, singing from the tops of the larger bushes. A couple of times, however, we saw him singing from the fairly large tree about 75-100 yards west of box #9 (between box #9 and the hiker-biker trail, closer to the trail). When he sang from the tree, he was about 2/3 - 3/4 of the way to the top, and on both sides. The reason I mention this is that, at one point when he was on the left side of the tree, we saw him with another bird of similar size and coloration. The one NOT singing was too far away for us to ID it (no scope, @#$%^& it). We probably won't get back there, certainly not before next weekend. But I hope others will be watching for a second c-c sparrow. Since the singing male has been there for at least 2 weeks, there's a possibility of a nesting pair. We thoroughly enjoyed KFP - have never seen such a concentration of Blue Grosbeaks and chats.
