We missed the Curlew Sandpiper, but did find a couple of bonus views at Shearness Pool. On an island fairly close, and slightly to the right of the Shearness Pool information sign, a pair of Black-necked Stilts were building a nest - so that should provide some very pleasant viewing for the next several weeks. While we watched, one bird pulled debris from the mud and passed it back to the second bird on the nest - the second bird did the arranging. And as I watched through a scope, right behind the nest came the beautiful action of a foraging Wilson's Phalarope, in full brilliance of mating plumage. The Phalarope continued feeding on that island as we watched, and was still there when we departed.
