There we had a pleasant time with the local breeders, although NO migrants were present, not even a Blackpoll. South end: 3 Willow Flycatchers, one right by parking lot, 2 Orchard and 1 Baltimore Oriole, 1 Warbling, 2 White-eyed and 1 Red-eyed Vireo, 1 Parula, 2 Yellow Warblers, 2 Yellow-breasted Chats, 2 Prairies, 2-3 Field Sparrows, uncounted # of Yellowtroats, plus Bluebirds at nest. The south field (over the Boy Scout bridge) was too overgrown to enter -- this is often good -- need to get out there with clippers! North end: 1 Orchard and 1 Baltimore Oriole, 2-3 White-eyed Vireos, 3 Parulas, 4-5 Yellowthroats, 1 Chat, 1 Prairie and (best of all ) 2 BANK SWALLOWS which are aparently nesting under the stream bank (saw one come out from under edge). East side (near Trolley Museum): Habo looks wonderful, not too many birds. 2-3 Prairies, 3-4 Yellows, 3 Willow Flycatchers, plus fair numbers of Orioles, W-E Vireos, Indigo Buntings, Field Sparrows, 2 Chippings heard. Perfect habitat for Grasshoppers but they aren't there for some reason. Last year we had a Vesper and heard Pheasant so will try area again on another day.
