That really was the highlight of my day because soon after I got rained out. No migrants were seen or heard but I only walked the lower trails and it was raining the whole time. I'm sure after I left things got better. There were only four Horseshoe Crabs visible in the high tide at water's edge and only a handful of shorebirds were seen: Semipalmated Sandpipers (7), Spotted Sandpiper (4), Semipalmated Plover (2). An adult and immature Bald Eagle were sitting on the beach when I arrived. A Prothonotary Warbler was singing in the swamp, the first I've heard there this year. I now have renewed hope that a pair might be nesting there (we have a small trail of boxes that have never been used). Flag Ponds is now opens daily at 9AM. //////// Arlene Ripley | || Calvert County, MD | 0 || aripley@nestbox.com | || http://www.nestbox.com || ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
