Look on page 216 & 217 of Lars Jonsson's "Birds of Europe with North Africa and the Middle East". Look at the Curlew Sandpiper drawing labled "summer (fresh)". The description for Curlew Sandpiper reads: "In summer plumage dark brick-red below, though females usually paler/duller and in fresh plumage with broad pale friges and dark vermiculation on belly, look 'floury' and not very warm-toned."
