In the hike along the creek before getting to the marsh, I saw 2 Prothonatary Warblers, several Northern Parula, many Chicadees, several Blue-Gray Gnatcatchers, a Great Blue Heron, an Eastern Phoebe, Red Eyed & White Eyed Vireo, and a Red Shouldered Hawk. In the actual marsh, I saw 1 adult Bald Eagle, another 8 Great Blue Herons, 2 Green Herons, several Wood Ducks (with Ducklings), 1 Great Egret, 4 Spotted Sandpipers, 2 Osprey, many Red Winged Blackbirds & Grackles, and one very late male Common Merganser. Also, earlier in the day while riding bikes on the Henson Creek Trail, my eight year old was thrilled to see 2 Barred Owls in a nearby tree. I saw one of the owls as it was flying off.
