They also visited Hunting Creek and Huntley Meadows in Virginia. Kenilworth Park had a singing Grasshopper Sparrow, in same location in non-mow area near ballfield. The Aquatic Gardens hosted Protonotary and Yellow Warblers, Warbling and White-eyed Vireos, both Orioles, Willow Flycatcher but the Alder was not heard. There was a female Common Merganser in the inlet from the boardwalk, probably the same one seen earlier near Kingman Lake. The latter site was high-water when they got there and thus devoid of shorebirds. Hunting Creek, however, had exposed mud but still was also a shorebird-free zone, but there were about a dozen Caspian terns, three Laughing Gulls and a Tundra Swan (which has also been seen in Maryland waters off Belle Haven). The Kites at Huntley were not seen by Barry today, although they were reported as recently as Friday.
