Co./DC I spent the weekend looking in Montgomery County for several birds posted here on MDOsprey, as well as searching DC for shorebirds during afternoon low tide. I was 2 for 3 in Mont. Co., and 0 for 2 in DC. Saturday morning at Little Bennett, the yellow-breasted chat I was hoping to see made an appearance, along with some other nice warblers: louisiana waterthrush, prairie, pine, yellow, and common yellowthroat. Sunday morning, I could not find the common moorhen at Hughes Hollow, but a cerulean warbler finally came over the towpath at mile marker 27 near Sycamore Landing. I had previously walked down to mile marker 26 and back -- it seemed like wood thrush were calling every step of the way. Saturday afternoon along the Anacostia, there were 2 each of great egret, green heron, and black-crowned night-heron at River Terrace park, and 2 yellow-billed cuckoo over the boardwalk at Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, but no shorebirds. No shorebirds again Sunday afternoon at the Four Mile Run flats and the south end of Roosevelt Island.
