Sunday morning I headed out to the C & O Canal (Sycamore Landing). Directions were excellent from Franz Herpenheide (map included) and Paul Woodward. After walking the trail around Mile 27 and hearing the cerulean, I returned to Mile marker 27 where Joe Halpin (sorry if I spelled your name incorrectly) and Bobby Hughes were birding. Standing in front of the marker I looked up and there was a beautiful view of the cerulean (thanks Joe and Bobby for pointing it out). And it even was very cooperative. Now that's what I call "good directions". Standing at the Mile 27 marker and looking up!!! Thanks again to Franz, Paul, Bobby and Joe. From there I headed to Little Bennett Regional Park, along Hyattstown Mill Road and heard but did not see the Kentucky warbler. Franz, you were right on with the location--one was singing right before I reached the bridge over the stream. I'd still like to see one, but the thrill of hearing one will have to do for now! Thanks again to ALL the wonderful folks of the Osprey who help "those in need". What a wonderful group!!!
