I thought it might be a = screech owl from the size...but it made sounds that were more 'outer = space' than owl-like. Then saw two other small owls fluttering in the = trees behind. And then a LARGE parent barred owl swooped at me, and it = was obviously time to move on. I guess this is the time of year they = fledge? It was a thrill to actually see them, though I hear barred owls = frequently and screech owls now and then at night.
