I saw a few birds that tend to be hit-or-miss for me there -- osprey, black vulture, red shouldered hawk, kingfisher. The best sight of the morning was an eastern kingbird and northern flicker perched within inches of one another in some bare branches, neither seeming to care about the other's presence; later, the kingbird left and the flicker was joined by a green heron -- can't say I've had those two in the same field of view before. Others seen: DC cormorant Wood duck Great blue heron Black-crowned night-heron (no yellow-crowned this time) Common yellowthroat Baltimore oriole Also heard along the towpath: Acadian flycatcher Northern parula Prothonotary warbler Worm-eating warbler John Hubbell Chevy Chase, MD ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
