Harry and George Amristead talked to Dave Brinker and confirmed for me that an AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN has been frequenting Bodkin Island, Queen Anne's County, for more than a month now. Bodkin Island is best viewed from a boat. Matt Hafner, Brian, and I looked for it yesterday from shore to no avail, but it is likely still present. Over 90 Brown Pelicans were showing nesting activity over the island. Look for the White Pelican in the vicinity of Poplar Island, Kent Pt., Kent Narrows, Wildfowl Trust, or even Eastern Neck NWR. Email me for directions on how to view Bodkin Island from shore. The one good viewing site I am aware of is not a site I feel confortable providing publicly but is one I will gladly share with anyone interested. Light is best in the morning.
