In-Reply-To: <000601c0fb3d$ca8d2b40$90def1c3@oemcomputer> Hi all -- I thought this bit of good news was well worth forwarding to Mdosprey, especially since many of the folks who work with neotropical passerine condervation are in this area -- Cheers, Gail Mackiernan ----------------------------Original message---------------------------- The following was sent to me by an American colleague. * GOOD NEWS! THE HOUSE BILL INCLUDES FULL FUNDING OF THE NEO-TROPICAL MIGRATORY BIRD CONSERVATION ACT: The House included full funding for implementation of this Act - a measure that directly helps songbirds by restoring and conserving their wintering habitat. The law authorizes $5 million per year for five years to support partnership programs to enhance habitat in the Caribbean and Latin America, where approximately 5 million birds of 500 species, including several endangered species, spend their winters. This legislation will help ensure many beautiful birds return to your backyard each spring and summer! ________________ Barry Kent MacKay 31 Colonel Butler Drive Markham, ON L3P 6B6 Canada For BirdChat guidelines, go to http://www.ksu.edu/audubon/chatguidelines.html For BirdChat archives or to change your subscription options, go to http://listserv.arizona.edu/lsv/www/birdchat.html To contact a listowner, send a message to mailto:birdchat-request@listserv.arizona.edu ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
