From: Michael Bowen Subject: DC sightings on June 25 Comments: To: voice@capaccess.org Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"; format=flowed After an absence of almost a month, I paid a short visit to Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens and Kenilworth Park, District of Columbia, this morning. Highlights were: a singing MARSH WREN, in reeds within a few feet of the end of the new observation deck at KAG. and 3 singing GRASSHOPPER SPARROWS in Kenilworth Park, in the no-mow area closest to the Kenilworth Rec. Center. One was singing from the crossbar of a goalpost, the other two from low bushes. I didn't have time to check the other part of the no-mow area -- i.e., the part closest to the Anacostia River, but that is extensive enough to accommodate more birds. The Eastern Kingbird nest above the boardwalk in KAG now has 2 (maybe 3) ravenous young in it. Mike Bowen Bethesda MD and Dewey Beach, DE D.H.
