Please be careful. - shireen in Baltimore -------- Original Message -------- Subject: [DE-BIRDS] West Nile in Delaware Date: Sat, 30 Jun 2001 07:47:35 -0500 From: Maurice Barnhill Reply-To: Delaware Birding To: de-birds@Princeton.EDU The Wilmingtion News-Journal reported this morning that the West Nile virus has been found in a sample of Aedes mosquitoes taken in Little Creek earlier this week. It is not known whether the mosquitoes were salt-marsh or fresh-water mosquitoes, but West Nile has not previously been found in salt-marsh mosquitoes anywhere. Since this is a heavily-birded area that has a lot of mosquitoes, birders should be aware of the finding and should certainly take precautions against mosquito bites in that area. Details are available online, probably today (Saturday) only, at http://www.delawareonline.com/newsjournal/local/2001/06/30nile.html -- Maurice Barnhill (mvb@udel.edu) Department of Physics and Astronomy University of Delaware Newark, DE 19716 ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
