I stopped by Hughes Hollow and the C&O Canal at Violettes Lock on Saturday. There were 2 male Prothonotary warblers feeding juveniles, 5 great crested flycatchers and a potential problem bird. At Violettes lock I saw what I thought was a juvenile Solitary Vireo. The bird was had dark coloration on the head but it was spotty, I got a couple of looks at the bird, the books say we are too far east this time of year. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
