Once again, no surprises, but a few birds that are not always easy to find in the county: Meadowbrook (Park & Ride at US 29 & Rte 100): BLUE GROSBEAK singing atop small trees and signs in parking lot at 5:45 this a.m. (7/5) Middle Patuxent River at Edenbrook Rd.: KENTUCKY WARBLER singing early a.m. on 7/2 LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH singing this morning at 7 a.m. Lake Elkhorn OSPREY--seen this a.m. on a snag by edge of Forebay Pond, behind the lake. I saw an Osprey by the bridge at Lake Elkhorn in mid June, and a passer-by told me that it had been there on and off for a couple of weeks following. Brighton Dam BALD EAGLE-- an adult flying high in the distance to the north of the dam Big Branch (Triadelphia Res.): YELLOW-THROATED VIREO, singing this a.m. HOODED WARBLER, singing near the little bridge beyond the parking area this a.m. Patapsco River Park at Henryton Rd. YELLOW-THROATED VIREO--two singing along river path on 7/4 LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH--one singing near small bridge up from parking area on 7/4 Mission Rd. (a wooded area filled with dirt-bike trails between Mission Rd. & US 1, in coastal plain) HOODED WARBLER, one heard singing There are still lots of GRASSHOPPER SPARROWs singing out in the grassy fields of the county, viz Triadelphia Rd., Dorsey Mills Rd., and Folly Quarter Rd. at MD Central Farm.
