One Kingfisher, one singing Yellow-billed Cuckoo, one Yellow-throated Vireo, and two Green Heron were also at this location. I went to Bumpy Oak Road next. One singing Bobwhite, two Eastern Phoebes, one Eastern Kingbird, and one Blue Grosbeak were highlights. Two Green Herons and 14 Woodduck were also observed. Next, I went to Myrtle Grove Wildlife Management Area in the hopes of finding nesting Pied-billed Grebe. The fisherman were out so no grebes. I did hear two Blue Grosbeaks, one Yellow-throated Vireo and one Yellow-billed Cuckoo singing. Finally, I stopped at the Mattawoman again where it runs near the junction of Rt. 224 and 225 at Mason Springs. The highlight here was five Great Egrets as well as the close female Belted Kingfisher. Then I went to work. The morning was better than the afternoon. Good birding.
