Date: Thu, 12 Jul 2001 18:13:57 -0400 Reply-To: Maryland Birds & Birding Sender: Maryland Birds & Birding From: cjam8 Subject: Charles County wetland MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit I was monitoring a SHA created wetland site off MD228 (about 3 miles west of 301) yesterday and saw over 6 killdeer, a spotted sandpipier, a possible yellowlegs (at a distance); heard a scarlet tanager and indigo buntings; saw a northern parula in the adjacent woods. This wetland is also home to several common yellowthroat. In April there were red-headed woodpecker and yellow-throated vireo in the woods adjacent. If anyone is interested I can ask the SHA project manager what their policy is concerning birding their wetlands. There is also one in St. Mary's county that yielded us a number of birds in April, including a summer tanager.
