He is in charge of the monitoring of the wetland mitigation sites. I asked him if people could go birding on their wetlands, and he said, yes, sure, as long as no one obstructs road right-of-way when parking. The wetland site in Charles County has a pulloff and parking off the road. The wetland in St. Mary's County is behind a private farm, and arrangements would need to be made with the people who own the farm. Mark said if you tell them that SHA said you could bird the wetland, they ought to be OK with it. I have met them and the farmer there is very excited about the birds and geese at the wetland. He keeps the grassy drive around the wetland ponds mowed, so access is easy, though a 4-wheel drive is recommended if it is wet. It is late tonight, I will post directions to these sites tomorrow. I just to let everyone know that they are available for birding.
