Fran Saunders MOS Web Site Director http://www.MDBirds.org/ webmaster@MDBirds.org Silver Spring, Maryland Subject: Kingman/Kenilworth birds 7-13-01 | Fall migration has started!!! I saw 9 Lesser Yellowlegs at Kenilworth | Aquatic Gardens today. There were some other shorebirds I wasn't sure of | as well. I wasn't expecting shorebirds so I didn't bring my scope. I | think there were Spotted Sandpipers and a Semipalmated Sandpiper and | something else I couldn't make out. There were also numerous Killdeer on | the mudflat as well. The Marsh Wren is still at KAG. The Kingbirds | fledged as of 7-6-01. I also definitely heard a Bobwhite calling twice | from the end of the boardwalk. It sounded far off like it was across the | water as you lookout from across the boardwalk. I also had 3 Great Egrets | at Kenilworth and 6 at Kingman. | | | Mary Maxey Paul | USGS Patuxent Wildlife Research Center | 11510 American Holly Drive | Laurel, MD 20708-4017 | 301-497-5725 (office) | 301-497-5744 (fax) | | ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
