Two males were seen on phone wires just 1/4 mile E of Rt 577. Interestingly, the surrounding fields are in corn and soybeans - but with a substrate of last year's stubble. Perhaps they can use this structure for nesting even in a cultivated field. One male had conspicuous white outer tail edges; the other's were worn away. It would be interesting to plot the positions of the VESPs on the 'Shore and see if these connect in any way to other pockets, such as the one NW of Millington.
