Ha, ha, made you look!
Actually, Ring-billed Gulls in all plumages are beginning
to show up on the Mall. There were a few non-breeders
hanging around in late June and earlier this month, but
this week I have noticed an increase (including birds
hatched this year).
Also, a bird new to my Mall list, a Red-winged Blackbird
at the Tidal Basin (probably a fledged at Hains Point).
Late last week I saw the train-bridge Osprey family
perched on the bridge power lines, and today they were
nowhere to be seen, so the kids are fledged too, I guess.
Finally, yesterday an adult Red-tailed Hawk was hunting
in the DC Veteran's Memorial woods.
Highlights on the Mall are few and far between in July.
