In fact, this may be the *only* place I have seen this species in Maryland! However, I also think they have been seen on flats inland of Assateague -- I know we saw about 8-9 early one year in this sort of habitat off Chincoteague (in Virginia). Similarly I have seen them along the Delaware bayshore (Kitt's Hummock) and at Hereford Inlet in New Jersey. All of this sites are rather ocean-oriented, tidal and consist of tidal mud/gravel flats with probably abundant worms and small molluscs.
